After three attempts to fire him as CEO, Zolani Matthews has finally agreed to part ways with the Passenger Railway Agency of South Africa (Prasa).
The agreement ends a three-year impasse between the embattled railway operator and one of its two chief executive officers, permitting the utility to proceed with the restoration of its services.
Prasa spokesperson Andiswa Makanda told News24 the agreement was reached on Friday when Matthews wrote to the Prasa board.
"On Friday, 16 August 2024, Matthews informed Prasa via email of his acceptance of the letter of termination of his contract," said Makanda.
