Former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu has been appointed as the national organiser of Jacob Zuma's MK Party. According to MK Party secretary-general Sifiso Maseko, Shivambu will be responsible for political education, policy and research. The party unveiled its highest decision-making body - the high command collective - during a media briefing on Thursday. 

A Grade 11 pupil was shot dead in Khayelitsha this week while walking home from school. Locals say the boy was a State witness in a criminal case scheduled in a Cape Town court on Thursday. Western Cape police are pursuing all leads to find the perpetrator. 

Major stakeholders representing healthcare professionals and businesses have refused to sign the Presidential Health Compact, with medical organisations and doctors condemning the decision, labelling it a "travesty". Acting President Paul Mashatile signed the compact on Thursday at the Union Buildings, following a delay caused by the refusal of various groups to sign it in its current form.

In its latest leadership shakeup, the MK Party (MKP) has announced that former EFF strongman Floyd Shivambu will be the party's national organiser.
 

Making the announcement on behalf of party president Jacob Zuma, MKP secretary-general Sifiso Maseko said: "The MK Party will be led by the national high command, which will be the highest [decision-making] body comprising eight officials.
