Floyd Shivambu announced that he is joining the MK Party after submitting his resignation as the EFF's deputy president on Wednesday evening. During a press briefing on Thursday afternoon, EFF leader Julius Malema said that Mzwanele Manyi had also left the red berets to join Jacob Zuma's political outfit. 

The Eastern Cape health department's deputy director-general (DDG), Nwabisa Mavuso, appeared in the Qonce Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on allegations of negligent and drunk driving. It is alleged Mavuso's vehicle was involved in an accident in Qonce (formerly King William's Town) on Tuesday evening.
