The ANC's national support is now projected to drop by more than 16 percentage points, in what could be the most catastrophic election performance for the liberation movement since 1994. The party will clearly need a coalition partner to govern nationally. ANC deputy secretary-general Nomvula Mokonyane said they would "put the country first" when weighing their coalition options. 
 
Two men have been arrested by the Hawks in the Eastern Cape for allegedly inciting violence and threatening to disrupt the elections. It's believed they circulated threatening posts on social media after police seized firearms from members of the taxi industry in Mthatha last weekend.
