The State Security Agency has distanced itself from a so-called 'intelligence report' on alleged judicial corruption - as a well-known Aids denialist confirmed he was the document's author and said he had engaged with Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe over certain of its claims. The story: On Monday, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa asked Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI) to investigate claims of judicial corruption contained in a report "purportedly drafted by Ms Thembisile Majola, the recently resigned director-general of the State Security Agency".
 

The details: The Office of the Inspector-General of Intelligence (OIGI) said its preliminary investigation into the report confirmed it was "not an official product of the [SSA] or any of the intelligence services overseen by the [OIGI]".
 

Instead: A footnote in the report stated it was written by a man identified as its primary "informant": Aids denialist advocate Anthony Brink who confirmed he was the author of the report.

The story: Two men from the East Rand had to drive 50km to hospital after they were shot in Winterveld on the outskirts of Pretoria. 
 

What happened: They were lured into a trap on 7 November when they responded to the sale of a 2013 Hyundai H100 light delivery vehicle. 
 

What now: Gauteng police confirmed that an attempted murder case was under investigation, with no arrests made as yet.

The story: Bafana Mahungela allegedly told his family he found Kirsten Kluyts' body in George Lea Park and was not responsible for her death.
 

What happened: The 21-year-old student made his first appearance in court on Tuesday.
 

What else: His father and brother went to the area where Kluyts was found to try to make sense of what happened.
