Good Morning, SA |  Terror in Krugersdorp: Questions linger as labs try to link suspects' DNA to 8 victims

PLUS: No investigation, no protection: Inside department head's big lie

I spent much of my weekend fluctuating between trying to process and block out the unfathomable details of the Krugersdorp mine attack. I think like most of you, I am angry, terrified, and heartbroken, and my blood is boiling for swift and serious justice.

The ANC policy conference wrapped up last night, and our politics team have all the details on what transpired, including what happened with the contentious step-aside rule.

Our investigations team have part three of Silenced out today, which exposes how Gauteng Health CFO Lerato Madyo did nothing when alerted by Babita Deokaran to R850m in dubious Tembisa Hospital payments.

Some good news still managed to trickle in this weekend, with Bafana legend Benni McCarthy joining Man United as a coach, and South Africa claiming four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. Our sporting stars always manage to bring a glimmer of good to the nation, don't they?

That's me for today – cheers.

If anything, the policy conference was a festival of dogma, a festival of selective amnesia, where people decide to forget important facts because it suits their agendas, writes Ralph Mathekga.
