New developments: Amid political scurrying for nominations for top positions in the ANC, former minister Jeff Radebe is the latest to launch a campaign for the deputy presidency.

The background: This comes as the push for ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa to be elected for a second term gains momentum - with another region, Thabo Mofutsanyana in the Free State, endorsing his re-election. The lobby for Radebe to be the ANC's next deputy president began in the Free State, with a push for Youth League structures to support his candidacy.

What we know: News24 understands that one of the people that Radebe roped in to spearhead his campaign is former advisor to Lindiwe Sisulu, Lekgotla Dichoetlise.

The news: From Tuesday, for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic started, South African schools will be fully reopened.

The details: "Primary, secondary and special schools will return to daily attendance. The regulatory provision for social distancing of one metre for learners in schools has also been removed. The ministers of health and basic education will, in the coming days, issue directives reflecting on this new approach," said Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele in a statement.

What else: Other changes include that people who test positive for Covid-19, but display no symptoms, will no longer need to isolate.
